Stalking Beacons
“Stalking Beacons” was captured during an extended period of great confusion in 2016-2017. This black-and-white 35mm photography series would unknowingly document the early stages of the artist’s 8.5+ year battle with depression during that time.
Where darkness is abundant and free, light brings only partial clarity to the new discomforting stillness.
The candle wick is cut, leaving only a wax mountain in its place. Yet somehow, without heat or flame, the mountain manages to melt, slowly exposing the preserved wick buried deep within. Always there, only to be uncovered by time. While the process is painful, it is mandatory — the mountain can never turn back. The candle must be reignited — but first —
a story of patience.
